SUMMARY:Golf is Useless (and that's why we love it) Art Opening
DESCRIPTION:MADRONE ART BAR PRESENTS \nGolf is Useless (and that’s why we love it)\nA Gallery by The Golfer’s Journal \nApril 7 – May 27\, 2024 \nOpening event on April 7 starting at 7 p.m. PT \ngolfersjournal.com \n  \nHere’s the truth: The sport’s biggest detractors are undeniably correct. But can’t the same be said for many of our most noble pursuits? We don’t take walks with loved ones\, read poetry\, or gaze at a beautiful vista because they achieve some practical purpose. It’s because we love them. \nThe stories told at The Golfer’s Journal often touch on golf’s myriad benefits: building relationships\, getting exercise\, immersing yourself in nature. But we know the real magic is that we choose to play this game because it makes us feel something that can’t be quantified. So\, to those arguing that golf has no point\, we say: You are 100% right. And that’s exactly why we can’t live without it. We hope you enjoy the following wonderfully useless selections. \n  \nTattoo hands: Kohjiro Kinno \nRed head girl: Gary Bogdon \n  \n

SUMMARY:APOCALYPSE SUNDAY
DESCRIPTION:So what exactly is APOCALYPSE SUNDAY? Consider it a sort-of variety show for people with very few options left. Primarily a musical revue\, APOCALYPSE SUNDAY features the music of Bay Area horrorbilly faves The Pine Box Boys\, singers of songs of murder and misery. The Boys will also appear as their alter-ego band Lester T. Raww’s Graveside Quartet\, whose music has been described as “Tin Pan Alley charm\, with Addams Family grim.” Rounding out the regular entertainment is “Gentleman” Jimmy Hadley and his songs of debauchery and poor life choices. And since variety is the spice of life\, each week will feature another SF/Bay Area band or artist. \n5-8PM \n
